According to Reuters, President Rashid named Shia bloc candidate Ali al-Zaidi as the country’s next leader. This comes after Trump blocked the pro-Iran former PM al-Maliki.
So what changed? Pressure. But not from where you’d expect.
Al-Zaidi now has the toughest job in Baghdad. Will he actually get to form a government before the next crisis hits?
