Djibouti’s President Guelleh wins sixth straight term in office

After nearly 25 years in power, the story remains the same in Djibouti.

Official results are in from the presidential election. The incumbent, President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, has won a sixth term. He reportedly secured a staggering 97 percent of the vote.

First elected in 1999, he is one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
