The vast majority of refugees the US has admitted this year are from one country. And it’s not one you might expect.
Since October, nearly 4,500 refugees have been let in. All but three were from South Africa. The Trump administration is prioritizing a specific white minority group there, claiming they face persecution. South African officials strongly disagree with that claim.
It’s a policy shift that’s raising a lot of questions.
