Mumbai’s historic Sassoon Dock is almost silent. Fishing boats that should be heading out to sea are just sitting there. It’s because the price of diesel has become impossible for many fishermen.
Their livelihoods are tied to the water, and right now, that connection is strained. The buzz of a working port has faded.
